Do you offer finance?
We don’t have our own finance facility, however, our knowledgeable staff can help you find the right finance companies to approach for your horsebox.
Can you assure me that someone else’s finance is not still outstanding on the horsebox?
Of course. We HPI check all horseboxes before we put them on the market. We will only ever sell horseboxes that come with a full clean history.
How much tax will I have to pay?
It very much depends on the horsebox that you go for, but they generally aren’t too expensive to tax. For a typical 7.5T horsebox you can expect to pay £165 a year in tax.
Who do I have to insure it with?
There is no set body that you are required to insure your horsebox with. There are several companies on the market offering competitive rates. Our staff keep an eye on the best market deals so they will be able to assist you in finding the best deal for you.
Is it more expensive to buy from a horsebox dealer than privately?
We regularly assess rates in the private sector and make sure that our sales are competative with those selling privately.
Will I be able to lift the ramp?
We can make adjustments on most standard ramps to ensure that owners can lift them.
Are the horseboxes you sell safe to transport my horse?
At First Horsebox your horses safety is paramount and we carry out strict safety checks on all horseboxes before they leave our base.
Can I legally drive a 7.5T horsebox?
This depends on when you passed your driving test. Drivers who passed their test before 1997 can drive anything up to 7.5T, however, if you have past your test since then you can only drive vehicles up to 3.5T, so do bare this in mind when making your selection. Anything over 7.5T would require an HGV licence.
This is my first time driving anything this big, is it ok for me to drive it?
As long as you have the correct licence, you are legally allowed to drive the vehicle. If you are a little nervous about driving such a large vehicle for the first time we’re happy to sit with you and take the horsebox out for a little run to allow you to get used to driving the vehicle.
Can you deliver my horsebox or do I have to collect it?
We can deliver your horsebox to anywhere in the UK for you.
Can the horsebox be delivered immediately?
It depends on whether we need to book an appointment to have the vehicle VOSA tested.
I would like something altered and a few things added can you do that?
This is definitely something that we can look into for you. As long as alteration and additions to the vehicle are possible, we can help.
I don’t like the colour, can you re-spray it?
To respray a 3.5ton the cost would be £1500 and can cost upto £5000 for a larger HGV vehicle.
